Migrate an ArchiMate® 2.1 model to 3.1

You can use the macro ArchiMate 3.x migration to migrate one or more models of ArchiMate® version 2.1 to version 3.1.

Prerequisites

  • You have Write privileges for the database group you want to import ArchiMate® data into.

  • You are recommended to log in with the filter Entire method. This ensures that all necessary model items are available.

Procedure. Procedure

  1. In Explorer, right-click the ArchiMate® model version 2.1 or the group that contains several ArchiMate® models version 2.1 you want to migrate into version 3.1. To migrate single models, you can also right-click into the model background of an ArchiMate® model version 2.1. The pop-up menu opens.

  2. Click Evaluate > Start macro Start macro. The Macro Wizard opens.

  3. Choose the category ArchiMate and select ArchiMate 3.x migration.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Select the output settings.

  6. Click Finish. The macro is executed.

The ArchiMate® models of version 3.1 are created and an Excel sheet is opened where you can find the GUIDs of the ArchiMate® models version 2.1 and 3.1.
