When you start an ad hoc analysis all of the items considered in the method filter are available. You select the method filter when you log in.
When you run an analysis you can filter the number of analysis items offered further.
All of the database groups that exist in the ad hoc analysis as items in the analysis path are displayed. You can 
expand and 
collapse the bullets.
Click the check boxes of the groups that you do not want to examine in the analysis. Groups that were selected as intermediate steps or targets cannot be filtered.
